Feliz Navidad! Posted by Hello

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve is finally here. It will be nice to see everybody together again for the holidays. Okay so I don't sound like a Christmas card, I'll just say that I hope everybody drives safely coming out to Woodville. It is supposed to be very foggy. From what I understand we're supposed to be getting together around 6, but I don't think anybody ever gets there at a certain time.

If you have a digital camera please take lots of pictures so we can post them up here for everybody to see. If you don't have the program downloaded, it's easy to use, or you can email pictures to me.

Also any family members have something they want to add to this site, but don't know how, just let me know and I'll be happy to help you out.

Personally I want to say thank you to Susan for sending out the address list. That's very helpful especially around this time of year. Lastly Merry Christmas to all of our family members, especially those who couldn't spend the holiday with us. We wish you were here and hope you have a blessed Christmas.

Chess Tournament

Apparently Greg and Nate have been going over the idea of a chess tournament on Christmas Eve. As far as details, I'm not exactly sure what they had in mind, but it sounds like a good idea. You should contact them to find out the rules and what you can bring. For those of you who aren't into chess (if you would admit to that) bring other games or whatever you want. I've been notified that this is a potluck so please bring something good, we'll be hungry.

Karaoke -- Alli is bringing a karaoke machine, she wants to set up a room for music. Be brave sing a song. Don't be embarrassed, we all make fun of each other anyway.

Pass The Word

Many members of our family have by now heard about this site and hopefully they have visited it. I've been looking for a way to add a calendar so that we easily see what's going on and when birthdays are, stuff like that. If you know of someone's email address maybe pass this site along and if you need the username to post something new, just let me know.

At least for now I want to post a monthly birthday post as a reminder. So if people can send me an email with the birthdays in their family that would be very helpful. Well I hope to see everyone on Christmas Eve.

Happy Birthday Cathi

Friday December 3rd was Cathi's birthday. She has now reached the big 2-4. I just wanted to tell her happy birthday and extend the opportunity to others in the family.

By the way, if anyone else has a birthday coming up this month please pass it on here. I know that Uncle Harrison's is coming up, but with the size of our family I'm sure there must be more and I apologize for forgetting.

Changing some settings

I'm changing settings so that right now anyone can post comments. Later I hope to set it up that only members can comment. But for right now if you want the username I set up just let me know. Or I can add you as a member, which would be the best scenario, so that anyone can post their own stuff.

Family Site

Based on Gabe's idea for a family website. Just thought I'd start it and maybe he can take it over. There's alot we can do with something like this. Post pictures, send news, etc. blah blah.
Well, if you have ideas or want to contribute let me know for now.

Woodville 2007

I took photos of Woodville for those in the family who haven't been to Woodville for awhile. The first set are of the homes of family members who still live here, and the others are of Woodville scenes. Caroline suggested that I try to include some of the stray dogs, but I made no special effort to shoot them, as I only was armed with a camera. Of course I had to put in pictures of the park and school. We finally have new playground equipment
Some things have changed over the years. The old Woodville hardware store is now the Guadalapana. Meeks Bar has become the Discount Store and Post Office. Tule River Coop still has its sign up, but I'm not sure it is still running. I haven't seen any cotton coming in.

Here's Doug and Nate's Place
This is a shot of Grandpa Art and Carlos' House
Woodville school has a scoreboard now. How many remember playing on these fields?

Woodville 2007

A funny Halloween scene near Nate and Doug's Place
This used to be the hardware store, then the Post office/Pizza Place. Now it's a carniceria.
The old bar, which was blue for many years has also changed.
These are pictures from the Woodville Park which was reopened back in the mid '90s.

World Famous Woodville Union Elementary School built was back in the 1940's hasn't changed all that much.

Another funny Halloween picture (I hope). In the background you can see what used to Rosso's. It was once an Italian restaurant, now it's the most hideous looking building in town.

Here is an everyday photo of Woodville, you can see the Pentecostal Church that is across the street from Grandpa's house in the background.

This church has certainly changed. It's been resmodeled, they've parked trailors in the huge lot, and they even televise their services.

Next to the park there is now a Nursery. They grow all kinds of things, you can even buy trees that are totally unidentifiable.
