Christmas Challenge

I don't have the "after" picture, but upon entry he turned into a giant ice cube just like in the old cartoons.

Mark ate a whole habeƱero chili and mike did a polar bear jump in the smith pool...one smith son was hot one was cold. Jk thier both hot ;) well im afraid someone will be injured in next years challenge...but for now have a happy new year!

Christmas Eve @ Jim and Elvia's

Once again you are invited to Jim and Elvia's house for Christmas Eve celebration. You are welcomed to start coming at 5:00 p.m. I thought this year we could have a more traditional Christmas Eve Dinner. I will be baking a turkey, and I thought Connie could bring a small roast and Maria a ham. With the rest of the family bringing side dishes and Christmas treats. Scott's family will bring a green salad and dressing, David's family will bring mashed potatoes. Evening ending about 9:00 p.m. Christmas falls on Sunday and for some of us we will be attending Christmas Services at church.
I will have coffee, tea, lemon aide, water if you would like a soda please feel free to bring your own and take it with you at the end of the evening. This year there will be no alcoholic beverages. If you have any question please call me. I do not check my e-mail or the blog but once in awhile. You can text me. Love Elvia

Fudge King vs. Soup King for Allison!

Fudge king vs. soup king
Fudge king, soup king
Enter on to the Christmas scene
To see who will be the holiday champ
Soup king punches the crazy fudge king
Fudge king gives him a chocolate slap

Soup king swings his carrot sword
And punches him in the fudge
Fudge king kicks soup king in the potatoes
But soup king doesn’t budge

The fight is fierce and were all afraid
That this will be a fight to the death
But mixing chocolate with different soups will give us all bad breath
So fudge king drop kicks soup king right in his croutons
Soup king splatters on the floor but isn’t down to long
Soup king pulls out a side of bread and beats fudge king all about
But suddenly from out of nowhere we all hear a mighty shout!
“What’s going on here this Christmas eve?” “There’s only one holiday king, "and that holiday king is me!”
Shocked and scared fudge and soup both back away
Cause the Pepsi king has made his way
To claim his rightful crown!
He’ll take on any Christmas challenge! So MARK, go get your crown
Mark, go take it down!

By the way this was Fudge King awesome!

Mother - Daughter Luncheon '11

Looks like they had a great time once again in Woodville. Even the little dude who crashed the party. Doug tried to figure out for years how to do it, apparently all you need is a handsome smile and a sweet Christmas sweater.

Goodbye Tagboard

This is a small minor announcement about the blog. I have chosen to remove the tagboard from the sidebar. While it served a purpose for a while, it has now become mostly just a place for SPAM comments. Further, shoutmix has decided to end the free service and go to a subscription only model. I can't blame them for trying to make money, I just don't feel the need to pay for a service that we don't really use.
Well, I hope to see everyone for Christmas, hope your preparations are going well. Drive safe!

Not-So-Random Question

A Very Grouchy Christmas Poem
by Nate

SALAD, SALAD AND SOME BREAD
TO MUCH SOUP WILL MAKE YOU DEAD
I WANT CANDY, I WANT CAKE
CHRISTMAS TREATS FOR GOODNESS SAKES

WHERE'S THE TURKEY
WHERE'S THE HAM
I'D EVEN SETTLE FOR SOME CHRISTMAS SPAM

A BUNCH OF SANDWICHES
ON LITTLE TRAYS
AREN'T SO MERRY I MUST SAY

I WANT COOKIES
I WANT FUDGE
FOR CHEESEBALLS AND CRACKERS I WON'T BUDGE

WHAT ABOUT TAMALES
WHAT ABOUT PIE
THIS CHRISTMAS MENU WILL MAKE ME CRY

EMPANADAS ARE WHAT I CRAVE
AUSTIN POWERS SAYS
OHHHHHHH BEEEHAAAVE

MY LITTLE TUMMY WILL GROWL ALL NIGHT LONG
DARYL SANG THE COFFEE SONG
DARYL SANG THE COFFEE SONG

I'M JUST KIDDING ABOUT WHAT WE EAT
SEEING THE FAMILY IS WHAT'S REALLY NEAT
CHRISTMAS TREES AND CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
WARM THE HOME THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT

KIDS ARE PLAYING
HAVING LOTS OF FUN
LIKE WE ALL DID WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

THE HOUSE IS FILLED WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS
IT'S ALWAYS SAD WHEN THE EVENING ENDS
GAMES AND LAUGHTER AND FAMILY FUN
MAKE OUR CHRISTMAS SECOND TO NONE

I REALLY DON'T CARE WHATS ON MY PLATE
FOR CHRISTMAS DAY I JUST CAN'T WAIT
I KNOW THIS POEM WAS WAY TO LONG
I HOPE DARYL SINGS THE COFFEE SONG
I HOPE DARYL SINGS THE COFFEE SONG

No Thanks

That last post was heartwarming but since Sawyer broke Mrs. Crane I thought I would post part two and note she is just taking a nap to hit the stores early tomorrow morning.

The Random Question of the Month

What would you do if you were driving and a row of ducks came out to cross the road?

Perhaps??

Getting Ready

This is one of the white pumpkins I've got growing.
This year's carving contest will be in Terra Bella on the 29th.

I caught half of these fish! I promise!

I'm thinking about creating a cooking like fishing show where my signature statement will be, "Nate can fish...AND SOOOO CAN YOU!!!" Oh, Introduction...... Family, Heather! Heather, Fishies!

California Kids

A few of us have recently been going out to the Woodville Park to take batting practice. The action pictures were not very graceful, so for now I'm only posting this one.

Save the Date!

Mother/Daughter luncheon is set for Saturday, December 10th. Festivities will begin around 1pm at Connie's house.. Mark the date on your calendars and we hope to see everyone there!

It's been too long since we've had a music post here on the blog. We want to know what you are listening to right now. Is there something out there that people are missing? Or are you back into something old? Either way, post your comments about music and we'll try to share some links so people can check them all out.

Woe Unto Thee That Missed Swimtember

The Koontz family decided to keep plans to go fishing instead of attending Swimtember. So we headed to Balch Park, where the people next to us caught four while we got zero. Everett improved his casting and the kids had a good time. I packed up all the fishing gear and we left around 3 pm.

Down the mountain, we came upon a mass of camping gear and BBQ in the road. A family was trying to repack, so I hopped out of the car to help. They needed a screwdriver, so I ran back unpacked the fishing gear and found one. Then I saw Caroline wrestling with our little idiot dachshund who was wrapped up in fishing line with a hook in his mouth and one in his collar. We tried and tried but could not get the hook out - ever after dosing him up with Kids Tylenol to make him drowsy. Caroline wouldn't let me just rip it out.

Back in Visalia, I took furry catch to the emergency vet and $240 and two hours later the dog was without piercings. I pulled into the driveway in time for him to have a bad reaction to the meds and have diarrhea all the backseat of my car.

So either never miss a Meneses family function or never take a dachshund fishing I'm not really sure what the lesson is.

FOOTBALL IS BACK BABY!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahh soon Sundays will be filled with lounging on couches taking in all day football marathons....and Monday nights and Thursday nights and for college fans Friday and Saturday nights. (Tue and Wed should be cancelled) So check your bbq's and deep fryers make sure your stocked up on chips dips and salsa because this should be a wonderful season. Also time to make our 2011 season predictions. Anyone else taking the browns to win it all??

Here's a link to last year's predictions, for those who want to see how bad we were. I think Greg did the best.

Vacationing in Fiji......Like a Smith! :-) Part 6.

This is how some of the kids get to and from school every day.
The school kids were not afraid to jump off the boats after school. The water was about 80 degrees.
The school put on a cool show for us that included singing, dancing, and warriors in action.
These kids were great singers.
So apparently I stick my tongue out when zipping through a jungle.

Vacationing in Fiji......Like a Smith! :-) Part 5.

The villages were close by a fresh water river and the beach. They were very poor but very nice at the same time.
typical stretch of beach.
A view from a high elevation trek.
The Beqa waterfall was pretty cool and a fun hike.
There's a huge Indian population on the Main Islands.

Vacationing in Fiji......Like a Smith! :-) Part 4.

Making a bag out of coconut tree leaves. Very cool.
The Fijian church choir was fantastic.
