Semi-Random Question of the Month

Here it is, last day of the month!  The question will not live up to the anticipation that led up to it, but this is what I came up with.

If you were given an award this year, what award would it be
and why would you be receiving it?

Christmas Pictures

Hey Everybody!  I'm looking for Christmas pictures to put up here on the blog.  Unfortunately, my USB cable is somewhere with my camcorder (hopefully Terra Bella).  Anyway, since I can't access my photos just yet I would appreciate if anyone would email me photos.  Otherwise I'll scour everyone's facebook pages and steal some that way.  Also I believe Greg and John are working on the video, that should be cool to see.
Happy New Year everybody!
Oh yeah, East Coasters send me pics too!  Or post them yourself either way we would love to see them here.

DVD/CD Exchange

We are planning on having the usual game/exchange at Aunt Elvia's house on christmas eve. Anyone who wants to participate needs to bring a wrapped DVD or CD to play. And no Doug, you cannot bring killer clowns from outerspace back!!! See you all there, and don't forget, Mrs and Mr Claus are planning their appearance for 8 o'clock.

Not So Random Question of the Month

We haven't had a random question of the month for December yet, I thought somebody would post one by now.  I, personally, hadn't been able to think of one in the small amount of time I've been online.  However, it was easy to think up this not so random, not so original question:

What is one of your favorite Christmas memories?

PreSchool Christmas Program

jack and sofia enjoyed a night on the stage for their christmas program. Who would've guessed that Jack would be the best behaved? Sofia made an adorable angel, and Jack was a suberb sheperd. Enjoy!

Ladies, reminder

Hello just a reminder that all the ladies are invited in to the Mother/Daughter Christmas Tea this Sunday (the 13th), 3 pm at Connie's. Please give her a call if you are able to come!

December Question

It's a little bit cold in December for many of our favorite activities.  I mean it's hard to go up to the river to fish when there's snow on the road, I guess we could start ice fishing.  With that in mind, I thought I'd ask people what is their favorite December activity?  Indoors or Outdoors?

Christmas Eve

My apologies to one and all, since we normally celebrate on Christmas Eve I took it for grant it that we would just continue with the tradition. So yes, you are all invited to come and celebrate Christmas Eve, December 24, 2009 at my house.(Elvia Grimsley, 16284 Ave 172, Tulare CA)
That's 1/2 north and 1/2 west of Woodville(559-784-2747) from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Time is not set in stone and we are very flexible so relax and just come and enjoy each other.

Pot luck please, South of the Boarder sound good, but I thought we could all just bring simple food. We have all changed our eating habits and there is always so much left there is never room in my refrigerator. I don't know if there will be tamales, but I'll make salsa for them. Here's a list; Appetizer, Vegetable tray, Fruit tray, Chips & dips, Chicken wings, (we'll put salsa and make them Mexican), Egg rolls, (add salsa and they come from South of the Boarder) Christmas Cookies, Christmas candy etc. I hope you get the idea. I'll provide coffee, tea, and water if you want sodas you can bring what you want and take home what's left. I'll have paper plates, napkins, plastic utensils. Susan do you need pickles and ice cream? Let me know I'll make sure to have some on hand:) If you have any question call and let me know. Also I'll see if Santa and Mrs. can come between 7:30-8:00p.m. Elvia

Keeping in Meneses Tradition

It seems we will be keeping with what seems a growing tradition. Our first will be a BOY!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Thread

Hey everybody, just in case you wanted to send Thanksgiving holiday wishes, or share what you're thankful for I thought I'd post a little blurb here. I hope you all enjoy your holiday. Eat lots of good food and drive safely. I'm also hoping to get a picture of Susan's pecan pie.
I'm thankful to everyone out there who have kept visiting and sharing here on the Meneses blog for 5 years now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

First Cafe Press Update

Alli asked for it, so I went out and added a new design to the Meneses Spot Shop. It's also available on t-shirts of different colors and sizes. I'm working on a couple of different ones to add in time for Christmas. Hope you enjoy 'em and I'm always open to suggestions.
Alli, hurry up and make that CD for Doug!!

What you would see diving with me at the point!

So heres a bunch of stuff that you would see if you were to go diving with me at the casino point! Huge schools of fish in kelp bed that reach to the surface. Lobsters hiding in cracks or crawling out in the open at night (which was a fun diving experience for me). Scenic shots of fish swimming above the kelp by the surface. Sea bass swimming all over the place. They love to come right up to you and give you a look. You would also see larger fish swimming around. Sea bass can get about as big as a v.w. bug. sorry for taking up so much room with these pics but i hope you enjoy them!

Advanced Dive Certification Weekend! Enjoy some pics of my weekend!

1. Kelly a disabled Vet is a great diver!
2. Spence my dive instructor in the wet suit with Jason a fellow Advanced dive student.
3. The Dive Steps filled with a the typical long line of divers.
4. Casino Point about an hour before our night dive. It got super dark.
5. The walk to Casino Point. It was nice all weekend long!

Another question.

With the upcoming holiday season I thought Id ask this question..... Do you enjoy or stress over the holidays??

The Random Question of the Month

In honor of November 22, Start Your Own Country Day:

If you started your own country what would it be like
and what would you name it?

Scrappy Halloween

Heres my halloween costume. I had fun stealing bags of candies from little kids all over Woodville and Shafter. The best part was replacing their candy with bags of walnuts. hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

Pumpkin Carving Contest

Warning!! The video you are about to watch may be disturbing. Some of it was shot by a four year old, the rest of it was edited by his dad late at night. Watch at your own risk.

It's that time of year again!

Cathi and I took the kids out to find their victims today.
The trip started out so peacefully

Paxton calmly sought out the perfect cucurbita.
Reese couldn't withhold her glee.

And here they are so unsuspecting.
If only they knew what the future has in store.

November Challenge

This is the result of me being giving in to curiosity. I was just wondering what today marked, because it's always a national day of. . . fill in the blank. The nice thing is that a website has done the work to create a calendar of all these events so we can observe them. So the challenge is to get someone to observe every one of these events on their corresponding day next month.
Just for example, the first day of November is All Saints Day; the second is All Soul's Day and Looking for Circles day. Good luck to anyone who wants to try it out. Keep us updated.

Here's the link for the calendar

The Book List updated

So I thought with the cold days of winter coming up people may be more inclined to stay in and read. With that in mind I thought I would post another link to the Book List. I meant to change the sidebar link back in February and forgot, but now I went ahead and did it. Share your recommendations and opinions on books here on the list.

I'll try to put together an updated list with any recommendation, but I'll warn you it may take me another 8 months to do so.

Happy Reading

10000 Visits
In the next few days the Meneses Spot should reach a landmark. We are quickly approaching 10000 site visits!! (we started counting a little over 2 years ago) Traffic has been very consistent and we have been lucky to be getting contributions from all over the place. Next month will mark the 5 year anniversary of the blog, thanks to everyone who has kept it going.

The Random Question of the Month

If you had to move out of state, but could pick anywhere in the U.S., where would you go??

Not so Random Question of the Month

Here's my advance request for photos. And an easy not-so-random question.

What are you going to be for Halloween??

Alot of people have seen the pictures that Art has been posting on facebook. For those of you who have missed them, I decided to post a couple of them here. He's got tons of pictures in his online album so check out his facebook page for more.

Relay For Life Today!

Sorry for the late notice!
Darrel's relay for life event is tomorrow. He will be doing the survivors lap at 9am at the COS track in Visalia. If you want to come out to support him, you might want to get there a little early to find parking. If you're really adventurous (or an insomniac) you can come cheer Connie AND Darrel on as the walk between 1am and 2am in the morning.

This is a pic from last year.

A New Addition!!!!

Elias and I are having a baby! As of today we are expecting the bundle of joy on April 28th. However, all you parents know it will change at least once.

Senior Moment

A bet has been settled

I just checked out Facebook and saw somebody's announcement over there. For those of you who don't know yet, I won't name any names. I think they should add their own announcement here. However, I'll just say Congrats and I knew it was coming.

"I'm Just a Little Shy"

Today Paxton went off to preschool for his very first time. He said that he was ready and when I asked him if he was going to make friends he told me, "I'm just a little shy". Apparently he wasn't too shy to throw sand with a little girl and get in trouble. So it starts.

Another Random Question of the Month?

Well, it's been a while and the last one was bumped off the front page. So here's another one for you guys. Reading some of the old questions made me think of this one.

What is your favorite children's book?

There are no rules to this random question theme, anyone is welcome to post them. I just try to make sure we have one every month. Okay, have at it.
